Bob Beason
Bob Beason was weaned from the bottle directly onto comic books. Each trip to Grandma’s house promised the opening of a treasure trove of comics courtesy of her ottoman. Contained in it were science fiction stories from Julius Schwartz and Carmine Infantino, war stories by Kanigher and Kubert and tales of the alien who embodied all that was good in America-Kal El aka Superman!
Then in a grocery store in Idaho I met what I considered to be a fictional self-portrait in the form of a web-slinging wall-crawler named Peter Parker. I was soon a fan of all the Marvel books and wanted to learn to draw them. I started by tracing them and changing their costumes to ctreate my own characters.
After doing this for a few years, I finally took an art class (dropping typing at the same time) in my junior year. Art became my passion.
I have collected ever since that time. I have taught art for 30 years and have been lucky enough to have had in my classes many talented individuals who have gone on to art careers in comics, animation and illustration.
I have also fostered a burning desire to draw, write and publish comics featuring characters which I have honed secretly and openly on the internet, until they have become a stable of well-rounded personalities, each with a history and determined place in the canons of my own mythologies.
